The 2015 album "Transatlantic Death Songs" (by "The Worst", a collaboration between Goodbye Ivan, Hemlock Smith & les Poissons Autistes) contained ten songs. One other was recorded but never used, as it seems almost like a pop tune. Arnaud Ivan Sponar wrote it and, very bizarrely indeed, programmed a rhythm track instead of playing the drums himself. When I listened to it recently, it seemed that this ditty would fit my EP perfectly. The fact that it's older doesn't seem to matter. The story of a person that had a nervous breakdown and is soon to be released from the hospital is told in very few words. But the anguish is quite real, I believe….
Step by step, in cold dismay
The convalescence barricade
And the cars just pass there on the freeway
And all they do is drive; away.
Step by step, towards the day
The anger comes and goes, in spades
And the cars just pass there on the freeway
Oh, just like you, they drive away.
Why don’t I, Let, Let Go ?
Why don’t I, Let, Let Go ?
Why don’t I just, Let Go ?
Why don’t I, Let, Let Go ?
They let me out so now I’m home
Waiting by the telephone
And the cars just pass there on the freeway
But who is really free, these days ?
Why don’t I, Let, Let Go ?
Why don’t I, Let, Let Go ?
Why don’t I just, Let Go ?
Why don’t I, Let, Let Go ?
