This very simple song, in many ways, opened the door for the whole project. Once I had it, it felt like I might be able to pull this off; record some simple tunes in my room and throw them out into the world, small pebbles for those who would want to catch them. The melancholy and sense of departure it contains seemed to qualify it for an album opener.
